SavoieAdelaide M.Faribault Daily News07/Jul/1959Funeral services for Mrs. Eugene Savoie, 64, who passed away at St. Lucas Hospital following a brief illness on Wednesday, June 24, were held on Monday, June 29, at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Cecil T. Houle officiated and burial was in the St. Lawrence cemetery. Pallbearers included five grandsons, Roland Savoie, Gordon Savoie, Stanley Savoie, Donny Savoie, and Jack Zensen, and Richard Endres. Adelaide Tremblay was born in St. Joseph, Kan., the eldest daughter of Louis and Cora Tremblay, who have preceded her in death as well as one sister and four brothers. She spent the early part of her life in that community and graduated from St. Joseph Academy where she excelled in music. At the age of 12, she assumed the duties of church organist which she held for several years under the directorship of the Rev. Vincent DeBourgall, the choirmaster. She was united in marriage on April 25, 1912, to Eugene Savoie of that community. In 1918 the family moved in Faribault where they have since resided. Besides her husband she is survived by four sons and one daughter, Theodore, Leo and Francis Savoie and Mrs. Madeline Constance Zensen of Faribault, Victorian Savoie of Covington, Kan. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters, Philip Tremblay of North Boro, Mass., Cleo Tremblay of Radcliff, Ky., Mrs. Rose Anna Prevost of Clifton, Kan., Mrs. Marguriete Ribardy of Greenfield, Kan. and Mrs. Mary Ann Ganser of Los Angeles, Calif. Twenty-seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Savoie was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. For several years she was organist for this church and service organizations. Out-of-town friends and relatives attending the funeral were from California, Florida, Massachusetts, Kentucky, St. Paul, MInneapolis, Anoka and Medford.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at 4 p.m. from First Baptist Church of Faribault. Following a reception will be held at 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Daniel David Savoie, the son of Theodore and Eleanore (Carpenter) Savoie, was born on Dec. 2, 1941, in Faribault. He attended school in Faribault. He was married to Sue Spartz, they had three children and later divorced. He worked for Eisenhower Hospital in maintenance for the past 20 years. He loved music and had the band Cruiser for years and also owned the Crest Bar in the 1970s. Now his love was riding his motorcycle and making people laugh. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (and Don) Morgan of New York; his sons, Dean Savoie and Robert Savoie, both of Palm Springs, Calif.; by seven grandchildren, Donnie, Malinda, Shane, Paul and Phillip Morgan, Taylor and Dakota Savoie; by nine siblings, Connie Spicer of Faribault, Gordon (and Judy) Savoie of Jerome, Idaho, Kathie (and Mike) Johnson, Rose (and Dave) Moravec, Ted Jr. (and Vickie) Savoie, all of Faribault, Roger (and Carol) Savoie of Waterville, Minn., Linda (and Mark) Vigesaa of Faribault, Shirley (and Brian) Trotter of Eagan, and Diane (and Mike) Benjamin of Rochester, Minn.; by a brother-in-law, Mike Klaras of Bemidji, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Pam (Savoie) Paquette of Faribault; and by numerous nieces, nephews, many friends in Faribault and friends at Eisenhower Hospital in Palm Springs, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Ellen Grace Morgan; a sister, Dee Dee Klaras; three brothers, Gerald, Roland and Stan Savoie; a brother-in-law, Dennis Spicer; a nephew, Randy Spicer; and a niece, Fara Vigessa. SavoieDesireFaribault Daily News16/Jan/1948Word was received by relatives today that Desire Savoie, 46, former Faribault resident, son of Mrs. George Caron, and brother of Warben Savoie, 227 N. E. Second, passed away suddenly this morning at Mankato where he had been residing for the past several years. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. He is survived by his wife, the former Gladys Remmick, and daughter, Nancy. While residing in Faribault, Mr. Savoie was employed at the Sanford Press, the Faribault Daily News and the Northern Natural Gas company.

The parish prayers will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Eleanore Martha Carpenter, the daughter of Joseph and Bridget (McCarthy) Carpenter, was born June 30, 1917, in Forest Township, Rice County. She attended country school. She married Theodore Savoie Sr. on April 30, 1935, at Sacred Heart Church, Faribault. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1973. She was a homemaker for much of her married life. The couple farmed in Forest Township before moving to Faribault. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault, with the Rev. Andrew Cozzens, officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The parish prayers will be held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Francis George Savoie, the son of Eugene and Adelaide (Tremblay) Savoie, was born on Dec. 15, 1917, in Kansas. At a young age his family moved to a farm in rural Rice County. He first worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp. (CCC) and later drove truck cross country during World War II. On July 6, 1953, he married Margaret Zabel in Minneapolis. She preceded him in death on March 7, 1998. He worked for 40 years with the Faribault Canning Co. as a truck driver. He was a member of the Faribault Senior Center and a former member of the Faribault Eagles Club. He is survived by seven children, Richard (and Bonnie) Savoie of Malta, Idaho, Kathy (and Ken) Robertson of Owatonna, Gary R. (and Mary Ann) Parkos of Apple Valley, Michael W. (and Lucy) Parkos of St. Paul, James F. Sr. (and Diane) Savoie of Bloomington, Francine (and Bill) Stadler of Faribault, and Kevin L. Savoie Sr. of Faribault; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Constance (Madeline) Zensen of Faribault; a sister-in-law, Bernadette (and Glen) Anderson of Owatonna; and many other relatives and friends. SAVOIEHENRYBIOGRAPHYBOOK - HISTORY OF LYON COUNTY, MINNESOTA. PUB. IN 1912. HENRY SAVOIE (1902) is a farmer of Lake Marshall township who has resided in Lyon county for a number of years. He is a native of Cloud county, Kansas, and was born February 14, 1885. He is the son of Mike and Julia (Lagess) Savole and accompanied them to Lyon county when he was seventeen years of age. His parents rented land in Kansas, and it was during this period that our subject received his early education. Upon their arrival in Lyon county the father rented four hundred acres of land in Lake Marshall township. Henry worked with his father until 1905, when he rented the east half of section 21, Lake Marshall township, where he lived until the spring of 1911. At that time he rented four hundred acres in the same township, where he now lives. Henry's parents were born and raised in Kankakee county, Illinois. They are both of French-Canadian descent. Besides farming, Mr. Savoie engages extensively in stock raising. He raises Shorthorn cattle and Poland China hogs. He is a member of the Catholic church and of the Modern Woodmen lodge. In Marshall, on January 9, 1906, Mr. Savoie was united in marriage to Emma Paquette, a native of Cloud county, Kansas. Her parents were John and Agnes (Labance) Paquette, who homesteaded land In Kansas in an early day. To this union have been born the following named two children: Fred, born January 11, 1907, died June 4, 1907; Eugene, born November 6, 1908.

Roger Joseph, the son of Theodore and Eleanore (Carpenter) Savoie, was born March 9, 1950 in Faribault.  He graduated from Faribault High School in 1969.  Roger served in the U.S. Army as well as the National Guard and Reserves.  He married Carol (Zellmer) Mentjes on July 27, 1990 in Faribault.  Roger was a custodian for the Faribault Public Schools for over 30 years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards and cutting wood. He is survived by his wife, Carol; step children, Mark (and Shawn) Mentjes of Woodbury, Ron (and Nicole) Mentjes of Pine Island, Ursula Mentjes (and Tim Bartram) of Anaheim, CA; four grandchildren, Cassandra, Derek, Talia and Logan; eight siblings, Connie Spicer of Faribault, Gordon (and Judy) Savoie of Jerome, ID, Kathie (and Mike) Johnson, Rose (and Dave) Moravec, Ted Jr. (and Vickie) Savoie, Linda (and Mark) Vigesaa, all of Faribault, Shirley (and Brian) Trotter of Eagan and Diane (and Mike) Benjamin of Rochester; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The parish prayers will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. Roland Francis Savoie, the son of Theodore (Ted) Sr. and Eleanore (Carpenter) Savoie, was born on Nov. 2,1935, in Forest Township, Rice County, Minn. He was raised and attended school in Faribault before working at the Block Factory in Medford and Nutting Truck and Caster Co. Roland then worked numerous jobs as a taper and painter in Faribault
and Lake City areas. He enjoyed antique cars and outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. Roland had been a resident at the Northfield Retirement Center for seven years. He attended school in Faribault prior to serving in the U.S. Army. He was married to Barbara Stadler, they had four children, and later were divorced. In 1982, he was married to Pamela Rucker Graff in Northfield. Stan worked for Heirloom Brass making furniture. He had worked at Mercury Minnesota in Faribault for the past 10 years. In his spare time, Stan enjoyed traveling. A gathering will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a procession to Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault with Pastor Craig Breimhorst, officiating for the interment services. Vicki M. Savoie was born December 15, 1954, to Arthur and Marie (Nelson) Bluhm in Wells, Minnesota. She married Theodore (Ted) Savoie, Jr. in the Black Hills of South Dakota on July 5, 1974. Vicki graduated from Faribault High School and was employed at Sheldahl in Northfield. She is survived by her husband, Ted; their three children, Jason (and Jamie) Savoie, Jesse Savoie and Laura Teske (and Eric Sammon) all of Faribault; four grandchildren, Dakota and Payton Savoie and Abby and Ike Teske; two brothers, Eugene (and Anna) Bluhm of Faribault and James (and Geralynn) Bluhm of Eden Prairie; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joel Bluhm.

Services will be at noon Wednesday in the Dayton National Cemetery. The funeral procession will form at Brough-Getts Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Brough-Getts Funeral Home, 102 S. Second St., Miamisburg, Ohio. A World War II U.S. Navy POW veteran, he retired from the armed forces in 1954 at 19 years of service. He was the recipient of many military honors during his career. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Mae of Dayton; children, Rosalie Fossett of Covington, Ky., Richard, George, Sandra and Joseph Savoie, all of Dayton; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Savoie and sister, Madeline Zenson, both of Faribault.

Cecil Houle officiating. Pallbearers were George Kaul, George Cunningham, William Burke, George Braun, Don Wilson, and Lawrence Johnson. Interment was made in Calvary Cemetery. The firing squad and funeral escort for Warben Savoie consisted of John F. Kenney, commander; Sylvester Fiebiger and Maurice Van Thomme, color bearers; Ed Caron and Lloyd Zuehlke, color guards; Arthur Shields, Bill Erie, Forrest Cole, Ralph Hunt, and Bertrand Murphy, firing squad; Charles Fleckenstein, bugler; and Terry Shields, Ralph King, Richard Coon, Edwin Yarger, Everett Brendemuehl, Al "Bud" Anderson, Don Ervine, and Charles Damman, escort. Warben Louis Savoie, son of Cordelia Trumbley Savoie and George Savoie, was born Nov. 18, 1895 in St. Joseph, Kan. He attended grade school in Kansas. He enlisted in 1917 and served in World War I. After his return from service, he served as a clerk for the Rock Island Railroad. On June 21, 1921, he married Colletta Corridan in Faribault. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1562, Faribault Council No. 889 (K of C), Faribault Aerie No. 1460 (F.O.E.), American Legion Post 43, and Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by one brother, Alphonse of Minneapolis, and by his mother, Mrs. Cordelia Caron of Faribault. He was preceded in death by his wife, his father and two brothers. Friends and relatives attended the funeral from Owatonna, MInneapolis, Medford and Faribault.
